Ski Pontiac receives $42,899.26 to build all-season recreational trail in Bristol, Quebec
Bristol, Quebec, October 30, 2020 – Ski Pontiac has received $42,899.26 from the Development Projects program of the Regions and Rurality Fund (FRR), and has partnered with Pine Lodge to build a 3.5km all-season recreational trail.
This public trail will be open to the community during the winter months for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and the rest of the year for walking, running and cycling. This trail is located on the Pine Lodge property, in Bristol, just minutes from Norway Bay and 45 minutes from Gatineau. Construction begins first week of November 2020.
“This project comes at a time when families are looking for ways to get outside and exercise in an environment where it is easy to social distance. Exercise is key to maintaining mental health and well being”, states Les Orr, President of Ski Pontiac.
Ski Pontiac must contribute $7,000 toward this project and trail maintenance, and has set up a Crowdfunding page. People who would like to donate can visit the Ski Pontiac website, www.skipontiac.com, or Facebook page. We encourage residents to also share this information with their family and friends.
Ski Pontiac is a 100% volunteer based, donation based, not-for-profit organization located in Bristol, near Norway Bay, and offers groomed recreational trails open to the public. Snowshoes are available for use on the trails free of charge.
This trail initiative would not be made possible without the support of the MRC Pontiac.
